The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit is seeking volunteer bell ringers for the 2012 Red Kettle Campaign.
Those interested in volunteering can log on to www.ringbell.org, pick a preferred location and choose a shift date and time (Nov. 9 through Dec. 24) most convenient for them. Volunteers can sign up for one or more shifts, and will receive a confirmation email prior to the selected date.
There are nearly 450 locations throughout metro Detroit that need volunteers, individuals and groups included, to fill shifts each now through Christmas Eve (Sundays excluded).
“As Michigan poverty levels rise for the fifth consecutive year, the need for social services continues to rise exponentially,” said Major Mark Anderson, general secretary and metro Detroit area commander for The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division. “Volunteers who donate their time to ring a bell are a vital part of The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign, helping The Salvation Army feed and shelter the impoverished in our community.”
All monetary gifts collected during the Red Kettle Campaign help to assist local families and individuals in times of need. These funds help maintain vital human services such as food and shelter for children and adults throughout the year.
