WATCH: Adoption Event Focuses on Harder-to-Place Animals
More than $12,000 was raised at the fourth annual "Love Me Because ..." pet adoption event.
The fourth annual "Love Me Because ..." pet adoption event held Feb. 2 at Hood's Do-It Best was more successful than what organizers originally thought.
The goal was to raise $10,000, but volunteers ended up collecting more than $12,000 through a silent auction, raffles, a bake sale and other donations.
Nine animals also were adopted, with another two adoptions pending.
The annual event is geared specifically toward animals that are harder to adopt because of their unique traits or behaviors. It's a collaboration between the Wyandotte Animal Pound, Shelter to Home and P.A.W.S. of Michigan.
Local photographer Anthony DeCuir captured part of the festivities on video, which can be watched above.
