Wyandotte Goodfellows to Distribute Gift Cards to Needy Families

Eligible residents can receive holiday help at the Copeland Center on Monday and Tuesday.

Volunteers with the Wyandotte Goodfellows will continue their work next week to ensure no child goes without a Christmas.

The Goodfellows spend an average of $20,000 per year helping Wyandotte families.

While some organizations require people to signup to receive assistance, the Goodfellows does not. Those in need simply show up to receive gifts from Toys 'R' Us and gift cards redeemable at Meijer.

In order to qualify, a family must live in Wyandotte and must have children. Proof of residency, income level and number of dependents must be provided.

Gift cards will be handed out from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Copeland Center.

For more information or to make a donation, contact the Goodfellows at P.O. Box 392, Wyandotte, MI 48192.

The name "Goodfellows" doesn't do justice to their generosity. They helped my family way back in the 1950s and continue helping families today. They are my favorite charity for that very reason. Whenever you see them on the street corners in the cold, snow or rain please don't ignore them. All the money they collect is for the benefit of kids in our city. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EACH AND EVERY GOODFELLOW!
