Wellness Week Tip No. 2: Exercise Doesn't Have to be Boring

Exercise is the one area most of us dread. But to be healthy and kick start wellness, exercise is needed. Though some of us prefer to go to the dentist than to work out, working out should be fun. The days of just working on machines are gone, plus boring. Here's a list of suggestions of different exercises to do or look into trying:

  • Yoga
  • Zumba or Zumba Gold (50 years and older). If aerobics and Latin dancing had a love child, Zumba would be it. The calorie burn is approximately 600 per hour and it's fun. Zumba Gold is meant for those who are 50 years and better or those who need a slower pace
  • Go on a bike ride with your kids
  • Jumping rope. I know it's childish, but did you know you can burn 100 calories in 10 minutes?
  • Walking around at a park

Spafinder.com also has a link to a new site that has a wealth of information called Veria.com

Since it is Wellness Week, why not try something to switch up your routine? There are plenty of local places that offer yoga and Zumba.

I'm not sure whether 'most' dread exercise or just don't know what to do. Thank you for spreading the news that exercise can be fun. Greg Greene, author of Fitness By Greg - You Are A Work In Progress...For The Rest Of Your Life!

Most people I talk to you bring up the gym and they cringe. I have found it's something you have to do to keep a healthy weight. Not a fan of it but I just look at it like washing my hair and something to incorporate into my day. But doing Zumba is fun and a great calorie burn.

The gym or fitness facility is a great place to focus on your fitness program, but it is not absolutely necessary for body work. Much can be done at home on your own.
