Official Closing of St. Elizabeth Church and Parish

A Vigil Service for the closing of St. Elizabeth Church will be held Friday, June 29 at 7 pm in the church.  The service will conclude with a slide presentation of the history of St. Elizabeth parish, sharing and hospitality, refreshments and snacks.

The official closing of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church will take place on Saturday, June 30 at a Mass presided by Bishop Reiss, Fr. Michael Cremin (pastor) and Fr. Linus Kinyua (associate).  After the mass, the doors of the church will officially be locked and St. Elizabeth Church will merge with St. Joseph Church.  A motorcade carrying the statue of St. Elizabeth will travel down Biddle Ave. past St. Patrick Church and on to St. Joseph Church (334 Elm) where a welcoming service will be held to enshrine the statue in a newly created niche in the church.  The day will end with snacks and refreshments in the St. Joseph Fellowship Hall.

St. Elizabeth, St. Patrick and St. Joseph parishes have been involved in a cluster arrangement for the past two years, sharing the priestly services of Fr. Michael Cremin, Fr. Linus Kinyua and Fr. Gary Morelli.  St. Elizabeth parish will now merge all its assets with St. Joseph parish.  Next year, St. Patrick parish will also merge with St. Joseph and the three parishes will form a new, singular parish with a new name.  St. Patrick and St. Joseph churches will remain as the new parish worship sites.
