The campaign is an effort to offset the post-holiday decline in emergency food availability while increasing community engagement with local libraries, according to a Bacon Library release.

"Hunger and charity are at the forefront of everyone’s minds during the holidays, but it is often forgotten that the need for emergency food assistance remains relatively constant year-round," according to the release. "As a result, food banks experience a decrease in inventory during late winter and early spring."
