Heat Advisory Extended for Wayne County

Sizzling weather will continue as a heat advisory remains in effect until late Thursday night.

The alert was initially issued from noon Tuesday to Wednesday night, but it was extended throughout Thursday as conditions persist this week.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory for southeastern Michigan, including Wayne County, as temps in the 90s plus humidity make it feel more like 100-105 degrees. The peak heat time was expected from 2-7 p.m., according to the initial alert.

Heat exhaustion, heat stroke, muscle cramps and sunburns are possible hazards in this weather, the National Weather Service reports.

Drinking plenty of fluids and staying indoors with air conditioning are among safety tips. As always, children and pets should not be left unattended in vehicles.
