Hood's Event Raises $12,000 for Harder-to-Place Animals

Nine animals also were adopted, with another two adoptions pending.

The fourth annual "Love Me Because ..." pet adoption event held Feb. 2 at Hood's Do-It Best was more successful than what organizers originally thought.

The goal was to raise $10,000, but volunteers ended up collecting more than $12,000 through a silent auction, raffles, a bake sale and other donations.

Nine animals also were adopted, with another two adoptions pending.

The annual event is geared specifically toward animals that are harder to adopt because of their unique traits or behaviors. It's a collaboration between Shelter to Home and P.A.W.S. of Michigan.

It certainly was a grand event. Many thanks from the heart to all those who volunteered and gave of their time to organize and work so hard. To those who made all of the baked good. To those who made items and donated items for the silent auction and the Chinese Raffle. To those who gave of their money in donations and purchased tickets and goods. To those who watched over the animals that day and the great photographers who were there all day to take photos. You all are the best! Thank you to those great adopters. It is a Blessing to know those animals adopted were happy in a loving home and not in a cage for their first night in a long time and now forever. Thank you Wyandotte Patch for promoting and thank you Hoods Do It Best for providing a place. Plans will be underway soon for next year.
