Largest National Food Drive Comes to Your Mailbox Saturday

Letter carriers are asking people to leave canned good donations by their mailboxes.

When letter carriers check your mailbox for stamped letters on Saturday, they also will be looking for nonperishable food items.

The National Association of Letter Carriers will be holding its 19th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Letter carriers across Wayne County will join the NALC’s national effort to collect donations for local food banks.

Residents wishing to participate can leave nonperishable food items in a bag near their mailboxes. The food will then be delivered to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.
