11 Ways to Celebrate Halloween in Wyandotte

The city is filled with fall- and Halloween-themed events during the next few weeks, many of them free to everyone in the community.

Wyandotte Jaycees Bloodbath

The Wyandotte Jaycees are hosting their annual haunted house at the Old City Hall building this year and telling the tale of “her,” the innocent one who was inviting people to come and play before she succumbed to madness. Ticket prices vary depending on type of ticket purchased to include combination packages that allow for special deals on the haunted house, Rocky Horror Picture Show and food vouchers for Joe's Hamburgers.
When: Oct. 17-20, 24-31; Sun.-Thurs. 7-10 p.m., Fri.-Sat. 7 p.m.-Midnight
Where: Old City Hall Building, 3131 Biddle Ave.

Friendly Monster Days

The Jaycees Haunted House will be transformed into a lights-on, no-scare trick-or-treat event. Children will also be treated to a behind-the-scenes peek at the hard work that goes into creating the attraction.

When: Oct. 18, 4-6 p.m.; Oct. 20 & 27, 1-4 p.m
Where: Old City Hall Building, 3131 Biddle Ave.
Price: $2/child or 2 canned good items; FREE/adults

Third Friday Fall Festival

Celebrate the beautiful Michigan autumn by attending the Fall Festival in Downtown and enjoy FREE live entertainment, trolley rides and horse and carriage rides. Grab dinner or a snack at the beer tent, from a food vendors or patronize one of more than a dozen Wyandotte watering holes and eateries that will be offering special deals all evening long. Community members will also participate in the annual Chili Cook-Off for the title of Best Chili Downriver. Applications are available online.
When: Oct. 18, 5-9 p.m.
Where: Various locations around downtown Wyandotte
Price: Trolley rides, carriage rides and live entertainment FREE.

Hallowe'en Open House

Come and get your fright on at the Ford-MacNichol Home's annual October open house. Visitors of the Edwardian Hallowe'en party will enjoy historical decorations, carved jack o'laterns and artifacts donated by Thon Funeral Home that give a glimpse into the customs of Victorian mourning.
When: October 18, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Where: Ford-MacNichol Home, 2610 Biddle Avenue
Price: FREE.

Rocky Horror Picture Show!

Come and dress like your favorite Rocky Horror Picture Show character for the special showing of the The Picture Show presented by the Downriver Actors Guild in cooperation with the Wyandotte Jaycees. Goodie bags will be available for purchase.
When: Oct. 18, 9 p.m. and Midnight; Oct. 19, 25 & 26, Midnight
Where: Out of the Box Theatre, 1165 Ford Ave.
Price: $10/person aged 16+

Pumpkin Painting

Looking for a Halloween-themed event that is catered toward the wee ones in the family? The Bacon Library has the family-fun event for you! Families can come to the Library to hear some Halloween stories and paint a pumpkin. Registration is required.
When: Oct. 18, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Bacon Library, 45 Vinewood
Price: FREE/pre-registration required

Halloween Cruise

Pier 500 is hosting its annual Halloween Cruise on October 19. The $30 ticket price includes a full appetizer buffet, drink specials, live entertainment, giveaways and more!
When: Oct. 19, boarding at 7 p.m.
Where: Boat docks at Pier 500, 507 Biddle Ave.
Price: $30/person

Downtown Trick-or-Treating

Children of all ages are invited to come and get goodies from participating businesses while supplies last! Trick-or-Treaters just need a costume and a container for all of the treats!
When: Oct. 25, 5-8 p.m.
Where: Downtown Wyandotte
Price: FREE

Trunk-or-Treat at Trinity Lutheran

The community is invited to Trinity Lutheran Church for a non-scary Halloween event. Children will enjoy Trunk-or-Treating between decorated vehicles, refreshments and crafts to make. Non-scary costumes are encouraged.
When: Oct. 26, 3-5 p.m.
Where: Trinity Lutheran Church, 465 Oak St.

Trunk-or-Treat and Cupcake Walk

Bring the kids in costumes and enjoy a family-friendly Trunk-or-Treat, cupcake walk and fun Halloween-themed activities. Everyone is welcome!
When: Oct. 26, 6-8 p.m.
Where: First United Methodist Church of Wyandotte, 72 Oak St.
Price: FREE

Trick-or-Treating at the Library

The first floor of the Bacon Library will be open for family-friendly, Trick-or-Treating fun.
