Rescue Animals Available for Companionship

Wyandotte Animal Pound and WAG Animal Rescue have a multitude of animals up for adoption.

Each week, Wyandotte Patch features adoptable pets from both  and WAG Animal Rescue.

Jill Knight Skoviak, a volunteer at the , introduces us to Tonka the dog and Trinity the cat:

Tonka is a 5-month-old lab mix. He is very friendly and loves people. He enjoys going on walks and gets along with other dogs and cats. Tonka would do best in a family who has time to properly train him. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Trinity is a black-and-white short-hair cat. She is a younger cat between 1-2 years old. She is a big-eyed beauty with a sweet disposition. She is a petite cat, who needs love and care. She was living outside in the freezing cold before she was brought in. She gets along great with other cats and dogs. Trinity is spayed and current on vaccinations.

The  is located at 1170 Grove St. Adoptions are done from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sundays. Vickie Taylor, vice president of WAG Animal Rescue, introduces us to Halo the dog and Little Head the cat:

Halo is a beautiful white German Shepherd. She knows all basic commands and is learning to walk without pulling on a leash. She is too big for a family with small children as she easily gets excited and will knock them down. Halo loves to run in the backyard and chase squirrels. She has learned how to climb a fence, so an ideal yard would be one with a privacy fence to keep her safe. She is an energetic dog and would do well with an active family who can walk and run with her every day.

Little Head is a sweet and loving cool cat who loves to be petted. She got her name because she had a very tiny head growing up and her body just kept on getting bigger. Now we call her Little Head Big Belly. She is an adorable cat looking for a home with someone to love her.

Anyone interested in adopting an animal from WAG is encouraged to visit the group's website and fill out an application online. The group's animals are on display every Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Livonia PetSmart, 13150 Middlebelt. As not all animals are brought up each week, potential adopters are encouraged to e-mail the group to make arrangements for a particular animal to be available to be seen. An entire list, including photographs and descriptions, of all the group's adoptable animals can be found on its website.
