2nd Annual Paint the Town Pink 5K This Saturday

The run/walk will benefit a program at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital that would provide free mammograms for working uninsured women in the Downriver area.

This Saturday, a parade of pink will run, walk and roll through downtown Wyandotte for the Second Annual Paint the Town Pink 5K.

Organized by Wyandotte business owners, the 5K is one of numerous events happening this October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This year, all proceeds from the 5K will benefit the Yes Ma'am Program at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital – an initiative to provide free mammograms for working uninsured women in the Downriver area.

Participants will receive a t-shirt and a post-race “PINKcake” breakfast. Tickets for the breakfast are also available for non-participants for $5 each. The route starts and ends at Portofino, 3455 Biddle Ave., running through downtown and around the golf course. The event will kick off at 7:45 a.m. with a yoga stretching session; the 5K begins at 8 a.m.

Online registration is now closed, but day-of registrants will be able to sign up from 7:15 – 8 a.m. The cost for day-of registrants is $10 for adults and $5 for children, but no t-shirts will be available.
