Viewfinder: Military Heroes Remembered in Wyandotte

Living and deceased veterans were honored during a Memorial Day remembrance at the 40th annual St. Stan's Parish Festival on Sunday.

The 40th annual came to a halt so parishioners could honor living and deceased veterans on the Sunday before Memorial Day.

Hundreds of festival attendees converged under the big tent for the ceremonies, which featured the Rev. Walter Ptak, members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1136 and the Wyandotte Veterans Honor Guard.

Military veterans from around the region were applauded. The VFW color guard posted the colors. The honor guard rifle squad took part in a 21-gun salute. Members of the Duane Malinowski polka band played Taps. A memorial board contained the names of veterans killed during wartime and since.
