Wyandotte Man is Co-Creator of Paranormal Website

Dale Ave-Lallemant's passion led to the development of Weirld.com.

Fascinated by the paranormal, Dale Ave-Lallemant of Wyandotte enjoys hunting for Bigfoot in his spare time.

Three years ago, the 1993 graduate got together with Shawn Fields to create Weirld.com.

"We try to reach into every area of the paranormal with the website, from aliens to UFOs, Bessie the Lake Erie Monster to Bigfoot, poltergeists to doppelgangers and everything in between," Ave-Lallemant said. "We try not to leave any subject untouched."

The site came about over some ribs and hamburgers.

"Shawn and I met in the Dayton area when I was working and living there," Ave-Lallemant said. "We began to discuss the paranormal and ghosts. We were sitting around one day at a barbecue just talking and that is where we came up with the idea for Weirld. It was going to be a way for us to distribute our thoughts on the paranormal and also get the thoughts of others. Over the last three years, Weirld has evolved to what it is today."

And what it is today is a place for people interested in all things paranormal to find out what is going on with UFO's, cryptids, ghost stories and other various cases of the X-file variety.

Ave-Lallemant said several personal tales stand out in his mind.

"I have a number of memorable stories, most of which are on Weirld.com," he said. "A number of years ago, I was hunting in northwestern Michigan when I heard some crashing and splashing from a nearby creek. I was in my tree stand, as it was bow season, watching in the direction of the noise. I figured it was a black bear or other large animal. What I saw next will stay with me forever.

"This beast climbed up the bank, then stood up and walked down the edge of the stream. I was at a loss. I'd heard stories of the Michigan Dogman and Bigfoot, but I figured they were all myths. I can't say exactly what it was, but it fit the description of Bigfoot. (It was) bipedal, dark in color, almost black. From my vantage point, I would say when it stood up completely, it was about 6 feet 6 inches tall. After it had walked off and I couldn't hear or see it, I climbed down and headed the opposite way back to my truck. I went back the next day, but did not find any tracks or any other signs."

Weirld hosts many stories just like this one, on a huge collection of topics within the paranormal realm. If you have a story to share or just want to read about other people's experiences, check out Weirld.com.

(Last week , I said this week's column was going to highlight two Wyandotte residents and how they have expressed their passions in life. After interviewing Ave-Lallemant, I felt his story needed to be told on its own. Check back next week for the conclusion piece.)
