'Edges' Takes Over the Wyandotte Arts Center

The AKT Theatre Project show takes the stage Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through April 16.

When I took the assignment to shoot photos for the local production Edges being performed by The AKT Theatre Project at the , I had no idea what to expect. I have not seen a play since I was forced to do so in high school. I am not a big fan of musicals, or so I thought before seeing Edges.

I enjoyed myself immensley. I became not just a photographer covering an assignment, but a part of the audience. It sucked me in. I laughed. I applauded. I had a really good time.

Edges was written by University of Michigan theatre graduates, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. It deservedly won the Jonathan Larson award in 2007. The production is a song cycle musical that reflects many of life's ups and downs as an adult in this ever-changing world we live in. Love, the quest for perfection in the eyes of another and the draw of social networking websites like Facebook are all covered in song (and backed by a great live band.)
