Jaycees Beautiful Baby Contest

Do you want bragging rights for having the most beautiful baby Downriver?

While every child is beautiful to his or her parents, the Jaycees will put the matter to a vote of the people who attend the annual Wyandotte Street Art Fair.

During the event, scheduled July 13-16 in the city’s downtown area, people can visit the Wyandotte Jaycees booth and vote for the baby they believe is the cutest Downriver by adding change to the jars.

The contest has become a major fundraiser for the Jaycees, but it’s also a project they enjoy doing.

“This is a fun project to work because it pretty much runs itself,” committee Chairwoman Mariesa DeAngelis said. “I was on the committee last year and saw the huge response from the community and wanted to chair the project this year.”

At the end of the contest, the money will be counted and two babies, one boy and one girl, will be named Beautiful Baby.

The winners will receive a prize basket including a savings bond and gifts from area businesses. There also will be two boys and two girls as runner-up babies, and they also will receive a prize basket.

Entry fees are $10 per child. Forms are available on the Jaycees’ website, www.wyandottejaycees.org, on the group’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/pages/Wyandotte-Jaycees.

The contest is open to children up to the age of 24 months. Contestants are asked to include a nonreturnable photo of the babies.

Entry forms are due by July 11. The booth will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day during the fair.
