Wyandotte Residents Might Never See Toyota Commercial Filmed in Town

A film crew shot a commercial for Toyota Wednesday, but will residents be able to enjoy the Wyandotte scenery highlighted in the commercial?

Crews gathered in the rear of the Wyandotte Boat Club to begin shooting a commercial for Toyota Wednesday morning.

Actors, large light fixtures, scene props and, of course, a Toyota RAV 4 could be seen from the Portofino restaurant right next door.

Despite being shot in Wyandotte, residents might not get a chance to see their fair city in the commercial. The commercial is being shot for use on the East Coast, according to a producer working on the commercial.

There's a chance the commercial might run in Michigan and Ohio, but the fate of the commercial lies with the advertising team in charge of its exposure.

Crews built a large shed in the rear parking lot of the boat club with a sign that reads, "Famous Clam Shack." The producer, who preferred to remain anonymous, said the scenery was built specifically for East Coast viewers.

Nearly all of the people working to make the commercial, including actors and crew members, were from Michigan, according to the producer.
