Wyandotte Police Searching for Missing Man

Emerson Stockman Melhose, Jr., 72, was last seen near Eureka and Third on Wednesday afternoon.

Wyandotte police are searching for a 72-year-old man who went missing from his house on Wednesday.

Emerson Stockman Melhose, Jr. was last seen near Eureka and Third on Wednesday afternoon, just prior to when his relatives reported him missing.

Melhose has been diagnosed with some emotional impairments, which police believe may be the cause of his disappearance.

"It was common for him to be walking throughout the area around his residence, but it is uncharacteristic for him to be absent from his home into the evening hours," Police Chief Daniel Grant said in a press release Friday evening. "Our officers, along with assistance from our police cadets, have made a thorough search of the area and he continues to be missing from his home. No foul play is suspected in this matter, but as a result of the inclement weather, along with his health conditions, his family and our agency are concerned for his well being."

Grant said his department will continue searching for Melhose and is looking for the public's help in locating him.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 734-324-4438.
