Wyandotte Churches Hosting Spring Fling

The two-day festival is set for 5 p.m. to midnight Friday and from noon to midnight Saturday.

"With this being our 7th annual Spring Fling, we continue to have a nice blend of festival old-timers from the tent days and new chairpersons, who promise to improve their areas to ensure our guests are pleased."

The two-day festival, put on by the and parishes, has something to offer everyone, including food, music, games, rides and a good time for all.

This year's musical lineup includes:

  • 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, 3 Swing (30s and 40s classics)
  • 8 p.m. to midnight Friday, Fifty Amp Fuse featuring "Your Generation in Concert"
  • 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Benny Speer of "Benny and the Jets" (classic, garage style, Detroit-based rock and roll)
  • 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sean Z and Kent Koller (acoustic duo and guitar)
  • 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Fifty Amp Fuse featuring "Your Generation in Concert"

A new and improved serving and dining area is sure to bring smiles to some healthy appetites.

The Friday meal begins at 5:30 p.m. and features two boneless pork chops or breaded walleye. The Saturday meal begins at 4:30 p.m. and features two boneless pork chops or two stuffed cabbages. All meals come with potato, vegetable, bread, beverage and a dessert.

There are a number of other food options available, including pierogis, potato pancakes, paprikash dumplings, sliders and soups.

For the shoppers, there will be seven craft and vendor tables set up, each selling a variety of items. There also will be a book sale and a bake sale.

For those feeling lucky, the Spring Fling's big draw is its raffle, featuring a $10,000 grand prize. In addition, there will be six $500 prizes and four $250 prizes. Hourly 50/50 raffles also are planned, as well as a number of baskets with various themes being raffled off.

A “Prizes of Plenty” booth will raffle off packages, including gift certificates to popular Downriver restaurants, golf courses, walleye fishing charters and Detroit Tigers tickets. There also will be a package that includes a two-night stay at Lake Vista Resort in Port Austin, MI, and a date package with dinner, a bottle of wine and breakfast at the Southgate Holiday Inn.

Several children's activities are planned for both days. Outside, children can take a spin on one of the many carnival rides. Inside, youngsters will be kept busy with bungee jumping, a mechanical bull, a radio-controlled stockcar racetrack and face painting. A number of carnival-style games also will be available.

The Spring Fling is open from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday and from noon to midnight Saturday. Admission is free for those under 21 during the entire festival and until 6:30 p.m. for those 21 and over. After 6:30 p.m., adults must pay a $3 cover charge or purchase a $5 raffle ticket.
