2 Wyandotte Women Honored Amongst Top 10 Women Business Owners in the State

The pair will receive a Michigan Business Women of the Year Award during a Thursday luncheon.

Two Wyandotte women are among the top 10 in the state to be honored by the National Association of Women Business Owners, Greater Detroit Chapter.

City Councilwoman Sheri Sutherby-Fricke, who works full-time as a Realtor with Real Estate One in Southgate, and Barbara Duran, the CEO of are being honored with a Michigan Business Women of the Year Award during a Thursday morning luncheon in Troy.

Sutherby-Fricke is receiving the Breakthrough Award, which goes to "a woman business owner who has overcome obstacles or removed obstructions for other women in the workplace."

Duran is receiving the Words of Wisdom Award "for being instrumental
in educating and mentoring women toward achieving their careers or dreams of
business ownership."

This marks the 18th year that the National Association of Women Business Owners, Greater Detroit Chapter, has honored local women.

"All the winners elicit a great sense of pride for their substantial impact and significant contributions to the world of business owners," the organization said in a press release. "Shining the light on the best in Michigan is easy when you have a group of women as outstanding as this year’s winners."

This isn't the first time that Sutherby-Fricke and Duran have shared the spotlight.
