Bites Nearby: JJ's Pizza

Pizza of all sizes and flavors, as well as many dinners and sides, can be found at JJ's Pizza.

Each week, Wyandotte Patch editors and readers will pick a great restaurant either in town or nearby whose cuisine is considered to reign supreme.

Here’s this week’s choice:

Greatest Dish Ever: The BBQ Chicken Pizza (12” $12.99, 16” 17.99) tops JJ’s line of delicious specialty pizzas. The pizza is made using barbecue sauce instead of traditional pizza sauce. It is then loaded up with mozzarella cheese, chicken, bacon, ham and onions.

Don't Miss: The Taco Sub ($5.00) is a creative and tasty way to enjoy some south-of-the-border flavor. A sub sandwich bun is filled with seasoned taco meat, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, black olives, tortilla chips, sour cream and taco sauce.

Overview: JJ's Pizza is an independent business that has been in Wyandotte since 1974. Aside from pizza, the eatery sells subs, seafood dinners, chicken wings and burgers. Orders can be placed in person or by phone for takeout or delivery.

The Drinks: Pepsi products are sold in 20-ounce ($1.35) or 2-liter ($2.25) bottles.

Entrees:  Several different sizes of pizza are available. The smallest is a 7” personal pizza with one topping ($2.95). A large square pizza with one topping ($11.90) comes with 12 slices. A jumbo party tray pizza with one topping ($18.99) has 24 slices. The Meat Lover's Pizza (12” $12.99, 16” 17.99) is one of the more popular specialties. Dinners include the Lake Perch Dinner ($9.99), the Chicken Strip Dinner ($6.99) and the Whole Slab BBQ Rib Dinner ($16.99). Sixteen different subs are available, including the Ham & Cheese ($5), the Pepperoni Sub ($5) and the Grilled Chicken Sub ($6).

Sides: Two salad choices are the chef salad (small $5.65, large $7.25) and the Greek salad (small $5.25, large $7.25). Cheesy bread (small $4.25, large $6.25) comes with ranch dressing or pizza sauce for dipping. The Pizza Box Nachos ($4.99) comes stuffed with tortilla chips topped with nacho cheese and taco meat. Some of the fried sides available are onion rings ($2.25), breaded cheese stix  ($3.95), and 20-piece chicken nuggets ($5.95).

Dessert: Two menu options exist for those wanting something sweet after dinner. The first is cinnamon bread with vanilla icing (small $4.25, large $6.25). The other is cheesecake ($2.95) with three flavors to choose from–regular, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup or Oreo Cookies and Cream.

Service: Orders are taken quickly and courteously over the phone or at the counter. Employees are quick to explain menu options or discuss current specials. Delivery is available in a limited area only.
