Business Expo Takes Over Yack Arena

The arena hosts the Business & Lifestyle Expo on Friday and Saturday.

Nearly 100 exhibitor booths, interactive displays and activities are planned in conjunction with this year’s expo, which is jointly sponsored by the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber and The News-Herald Newspapers.

The expo runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $2, with children 12 and under admitted free.

A separate Women’s Expo is set up, along with a “Green Street,” which showcases businesses offering environmentally sensitive products and services. There will be contests and state presentations throughout both days.

From 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, there will be a special reunion concert by the band “Caruso.” The $15 admission includes two drink tickets. Five dollars of each ticket will be donated to charity. One attendee will be randomly chosen to select his or her charity of choice to receive the money raised.

Saturday has been dubbed “Family Fun Day” and will have several special events throughout the day.

Mike and Ron Morelli, a father-and-son team from seventh season of “The Biggest Loser” will talk about their weight-loss experience on the show and how their lives have changed since. They will be available to answer questions and to sign autographs.

The Detroit Tigers’ mascot PAWS will stop by, as will Cinderella. Children will be able to have their photos taken with both characters. Detroit Pride Cheerleaders will perform, along with a Yoga for Children demonstration. Children 17 and younger can register to win a Wii game system. There will be other door prizes and contests for children throughout the day.
