Cheesecake Magic Has Gone out of Business

The popular shop closed Oct. 21, according to a Wyandotte city official. No reason was given.

One of Wyandotte’s sweetest businesses has closed its doors.

went out of business Oct. 21, according to Natalie Rankine, director of Wyandotte’s Downtown Development Authority.

The owner, Arta Chiparo, also has resigned from the DDA board of directors, Rankine said.

Rankin said Chiparo gave no reason for why she closed the popular eatery.

The shop’s phone number has been disconnected and its website has been taken offline. An email sent to Chiparo on Monday was not returned by the time this story was published.

Cheesecake Magic had been in Wyandotte for 16 years. In February 2010, it moved to its largest storefront ever at 350 Eureka. The business offered 60 varieties of cheesecakes, along with a handful of other desserts.

Mayor Joseph Peterson said Chiparo gave him advance notice that she was closing the shop, but didn’t elaborate as to why.

“I’m disappointed that she’s closing because she is such a classy woman running a classy establishment,” Peterson said.
