New Restaurant Now Open in Wyandotte

Michelangelo's Italian Bistro closed in late July. Magdaleno's moved into the building just days later.

Wyandotte's newest Italian restaurant opened Wednesday night, according to manager Polly Kenzie.

Magdaleno's moved into the building at 152 Elm Street just days after Michelangelo's Italian Bistro closed.

Kenzie plans to hold a ribbon cutting for a grand opening event in the near future. In the meantime, Kenzie has her sights set on the Third Friday Wine Crawl.

Kenzie said she was able to reuse much of the interior decor and furniture left by the former Michelangelo's.

"We had to clean up and revamp the kitchen," Kenzie said.

Monogrammed glass dividers still bearing the Michelangelo's "M" can continue to be seen in the restaurant.

Waiters and waitresses have tried all available food to become familiar with the menu.

Kenzie said prices at Magdaleno's are lower than the prices at the former Michelangelo's.

Diners may bring their own bottle of wine until Kenzie can secure a wine license. Beer and wine are expected to be available soon.

"My food is so good, all you need is a glass of wine to go with it," said owner  Ernesto Magdaleno Guzman.

Magdaleno's is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, noon to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
