Sandwich Shop Grand Opening Brings Mayor, DDA to Downtown Wyandotte

The Axe n Ladder Deli opened with great ceremony Friday as a bagpiper helped introduce the new business to Wyandotte.

A new sandwich shop officially opened Friday afternoon in Downtown Wyandotte.

Mayor Joseph Peterson and members of the Downtown Development Authority descended upon the firefighter-themed shop to welcome one of the city's newest businesses.

There was also a bagpiper on hand to signal the grand opening.

Axe n Ladder Deli was created by Detroit firefighter and Wyandotte resident Ted Copley.

Copely, 34, had a soft opening Wednesday and Thursday, where several Downriver residents sampled the sandwiches for the first time.

Peterson said Axe n Ladder Deli was the place to be that day.

"It's not only the coolest place in town, but it's the hottest place because they have cold and hot sandwiches," Peterson said.

The mission of Axe n Ladder Deli is to service the wants of our valued customers by providing them with the highest quality product at a reasonable price, all while having them back to work before break is over, according to the Axe n Ladder Deli website.
