Wyandotte Chiropractor Eases Pain, Helps Community

Chiropractor Michael Cameron offers free adjustments to Wyandotte police officers and firefighters.

When chiropractor Michael Cameron first started his business in Wyandotte, he immediately established a way to help the community.

Upon opening Wyandotte Chiropractic on Oak in October 2010, Cameron offered free adjustments to all Wyandotte and .

Two months later, he moved the clinic to its current downtown location at 3217 Biddle, and the free offer is still on the table.

“It’s just something to give them a little bit of a boost, to say thank you for what they do,” Cameron said.

The offer consists of a monthly credit of $70, enough for two free adjustments each month. A few members of both departments have taken advantage of the opportunity, Cameron said.

In early 2012, he said, the same offer would be available to students involved in football or music.

If a student doesn't have full chiropractic insurance coverage, he or she can receive two free adjustments each month. If a student is fully covered, Cameron said, he will donate the money paid by the insurance carrier back to either the RHS Alumni Club or the Wyandotte Music Boosters.

“Nowadays a lot of people don’t have the money to do something like (chiropractic care),” he said. “So I figured this was a good way to introduce it, as well as give back to the school.”

Having been in Wyandotte for a little more than a year, Cameron said he sees an average of 10 new patients each month, far exceeding his initial expectations. Last month, he saw 22 new patients.

“It’s been great,” Cameron said. “It’s been a lot better than what I thought it was going to be.”

Services provided at the clinic include massages, traction, an X-ray suite, balance training and core muscle training.

Cameron said he likes the location of his business in downtown Wyandotte.

“There’s a small-town feel, but it’s actually a (big) city at the same time," he said.
