Wyandotte Museum to Host Hallowe'en Open House Oct. 19

Themes will include a late 19th century funeral, the embalming process and Victorian mourning customs, museum announces.

Guests will step back in time during the Wyandotte Museum's Hallowe'en Open House from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the Ford-MacNichol Home.

Carved jack-o-lanterns and festive decorations will greet visitors who stop in for a glimpse of the charm and fun of Halloween celebrations of long past.

In cooperation with Wyandotte’s Third Friday festivities, Hallowe'en Open House guests can pick up the trolley downtown to ride to the Ford-MacNichol Home for the open house.

Various rooms are set up with different themes, including a traditional late 19th century funeral, the embalming process and Victorian mourning customs. Many of the artifacts are from H.F. Thon Funeral Home, which is celebrating 154 years in Wyandotte this year.

The display will be up throughout the month during normal tour times.
