Wyandotte's Festive Fridays Feature Music, Reindeer

This week's event includes Arts and Scraps, where children can make free holiday-themed crafts.

The city that's turned Third Friday into an event known by many around is expanding that reach again this year during December.

Festive Fridays will feature music and live reindeer in downtown Wyandotte every Friday evening through Christmas. (Reindeer will not be on hand Dec. 7.)

This week's Festive Fridays event includes a special visit from Arts and Scraps. Children will be able to make free holiday-themed crafts inside River's Edge Gallery. Arts and Scraps will have additional items available for purchase, as well.

The reindeer will be set up in front of the old City Hall. Carolers and a strolling musician will appear up and down Biddle. Those activities are set for 6 to 8 p.m.

Several businesses also offer goodies inside their establishments.

The Wyandotte Downtown Development Authority and the Wyandotte Business Association are co-sponsoring the events.

"It's to create a fun and festive atmosphere so people will visit small downtown shops rather than the mall for their holiday shopping," DDA Director Natalie Rankine said.

The Wyandotte Jaycees' Santa House also is open from 4 to 8 p.m. Fridays. It's located in the rear of the first floor of the old City Hall.
