Tech and cold = :-(

When temperatures start to get extreme, we always get an influx of questions about leaving any type of technology outside in these temperatures.

Because extreme heat seems a way off for those of us living here in Michigan,  lets talk about leaving your devices out in the cold (in the car for example).

The simple answer is don't do it.  Once the ambient temperature reaches 32 degrees Fahrenheit, it is time to bring in the technology.  If you leave it in the car or ouside in these temps, you are asking for trouble.  It can damage screens, shut down or cause a number of other errors including shortened battery life.

If you are reading this because you just left your laptop or smart phone out in the car for an extended period of frozen time, wait to turn it on.  If it is really cold, and you bring the equipment in to a warm room and turn it on, you risk damaging it because of condensation or just the major change in the temperature of the device.  Just give it some time to warm up to the same temp as the surrounding air.

Be careful of the frozen temps this winter and stay warm.  Don't forget to do the same for your tech gadgets.

As we always say, thank for for taking the time to read our little blog and if you have any technology questions that we can help you with, please add them here as a comment or visit us on our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ElectronicBrainSolutions and we will do our best to answer any and all questions.
