10 Years Later: Wyandotte Patch's 9/11 Coverage

A moving service brought hundreds of people together on Sunday morning in Wyandotte.

How did you spend your Sunday? For millions of people, it was a day of reflection, civic pride and remembrance as communities across America commemorated the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, in their own unique ways.

In Wyandotte, hundreds of people attended a 9/11 memorial service outside Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1136. Here's a look at Wyandotte Patch's coverage of the event:

  • A introduced Mayor Joseph Peterson standing alongside the 15-foot flagpole he installed on the front lawn of his house.
  • A captured the raw emotion of the morning service, which included prayers, speeches and music.
  • A showed some of the people behind the event, along with what they accomplished.
  • A brought highlights from the event, which included several guest speakers and inspirational songs.

Across the nation, 9/11 affected many people in numerous ways. Trying to bring some of those first-person accounts to the forefront, Patch sites around the country collaborated on a project that showcases 911 snapshots of those touched by 9/11.
