3-6 Inches of Snow Expected Tuesday Evening in Wyandotte

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the area.

A winter storm is now expected to bring 3-6 inches of snow to the Wyandotte area Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the area, in effect from 3 p.m. Tuesday through noon on Wednesday.

Earlier predictions estimated the level of snowfall for the area to be higher. However, the NWS explained that though precipitation will begin to fall earlier on Tuesday, it will start out as rain, turn into sleet, and eventually a “heavy, wet snow” later in the day. As such, snow accumulation will be less in some areas.

More than six inches of snow is expected north of Metro Detroit, where as less accumulation is expected south of the area.

The weight of the snow is expected to put stress on trees and power lines, which could cause power outages. Also, the heavy snowfall will make driving hazardous Tuesday evening and into Wednesday.
