8-Mile Stretch of I-75 Closed This Weekend Downriver

Traffic will be rerouted onto Fort Street from 9 p.m. Friday through 9 p.m. Sunday.

If you use I-75 to get around Downriver, you might need to find a new route this weekend.

An eight-mile stretch of the freeway will be closed in both directions between Fort Street in Rockwood (exit 28) and Eureka Road in Taylor (exit 36) for bridge beam setting, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

The closure will be in effect from 9 p.m. Friday through 9 p.m. Sunday. Lanes and ramps leading into the closure area will be closed starting at 7 p.m. Friday.

Traffic will be detoured onto Fort Street. Local traffic can access southbound I-75 at West Road and northbound I-75 at Sibley Road. 

In addition to the closure, the right lane of southbound I-75 will be closed at Cicotte Road in Lincoln Park from 8 a.m. Saturday until 4 p.m. Sunday for sign work. The ramp from Outer Drive to southbound I-75 also will be closed.
