Blood Drive Set for Wednesday at Yack Arena

The Wyandotte event comes just days after the American Red Cross said blood levels were low.

An American Red Cross blood drive is set for 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at .

The drive comes just days after the American Red Cross issued for blood donations throughout southeastern Michigan.

Due to the low blood supplies, some hospitals have had to wait for blood, specifically type O negative, which is always in high demand because it can be transfused to patients with any blood type, especially in emergency situations.

Types O negative, A negative and B negative are the most in need at this time.

Walk-ins are welcome at the Wyandotte event, but appointments can be scheduled by emailing hthiede@wyan.org.
