Bye Bye Biddle Billboard in Wyandotte

The pending sale of the property at the corner of Biddle Avenue and Mulberry Street is sending a long-standing billboard to a new location in Wyandotte.

A billboard located at Biddle Avenue and Mulberry Street is expected to be relocated after city officials signed a purchase agreement for the property on which the billboard stands.

The billboard located at former 87 Mulberry, across the street from Wyandotte Henry Ford Hospital, is being relocated to the city-owned property located south of the vacated St. Ignace Street.

The billboard property and 2312-2350 Biddle Avenue are included in a purchase agreement with Ghazwan Atto for a new medical office building.

The billboard sign and a house at 2350 have not been removed.

Mayor Joseph Peterson said he plans to begin the process of removing the billboard and the house as early as Thursday.

Peterson added the sale of the property would result in about $151,000 annually in additional tax revenue.

Wyandotte officials plan to execute and pay for the relocation of the billboard--not to exceed $29,000--with funds raised in the sale of the property.

The final date for removal of the billboard is June 30, 2013 according to city documents.

The billboard is a CBS Outdoor advertisement.
