Comics, Coneys to Overtake Downtown Wyandotte

Wyandotte Patch is teaming with the Wyandotte Downtown Development Authority for a June 29 event, benefiting Wyandotte Blessings in a Backpack and the Wyandotte Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Get ready for a gut-busting night of food and fun for the entire family.

Wyandotte Patch is joining forces with the to host "Comics and Coneys" from 6 to 9 p.m. June 29.

The event will be held at First and Elm in conjunction with the city's newly developed Fifth Friday events.

Patch will be hosting a Coney Fest, featuring coneys from . The DDA will be hosting the comic portion of the night.

Throughout the night, there will be comic book heroes walking around, along with free comic book giveaways. Live entertainment also is on tap. There will be games and activities for the entire family. Staffers from the also will be on hand, providing 5-minute chair massages.

Several guests are set to make appearances at the event, including famed Wyandotte artist Tony Miello.

Proceeds from "Comics and Coneys" will be split between and the .

Representatives from both groups will be on hand during the event. Wyandotte Patch also will have a booth featuring games and prizes.

DDA Director Natalie Rankine said the three-hour event promises to be a blast.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to partner with Wyandotte Patch to raise money for a good cause and meet our 2012 Wyandotte Street Art Fair artist, Tony Miello," Rankine said. "Tony is a comic book artist and has rendered our Wyandotte Street Art Fair mascot 'Art' as a comic book superhero. Join us on June 29th to get a sneak preview of what you’ll see at the 2012 Wyandotte Street Art Fair from July 11th to the 14th.”
