Community Leaders to Gather to Discuss 'Downriver Branding'

Does Downriver have a brand? What comes to mind when you think of Downriver?

These and many other questions will be discussed at the Downriver Summit to be held from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Wayne County Community College District’s Downriver Campus in the Heinz C. Prechter Educational and Performing Arts Center, 21000 North Line Road in Taylor.

Business leaders, community leaders, cultural organizations, economic developers and many others will come together to begin the process of creating a regional brand for Downriver, according to a summit release.

Speakers featured at the summit will be:

• Macomb County Executive Mark Hackle
• Rodney Stokes, Gov. Rick Snyder's special advisor for placemaking
• Arnold Weinfeld, director of strategic initiatives at the Michigan Municipal League and an author of the MIplace initiative

The above community leaders will help create a blueprint for branding the region that includes 21 highly livable communities, according to the same release.

The cost to attend is $15 per person or $10 per person for groups of 10 or more. Advanced registration is requested. Included in the ticket price are a continental breakfast and a box lunch.
