Fireworks Begin Friday and Continue Through August

Summertime in America is about three things: freedom, baseball and fireworks.

Luckily for residents, there will be plenty of that last element of the equation in the upcoming weeks. While nearby fireworks displays will cluster around Fourth of July weekend this year, there’s a steady stream of action through the first week of August. And it all starts tomorrow night.

Friday: in Wyandotte
Fireworks will began at dusk and launch from Point Hennepin on the Detroit River. The best viewing areas will be in and BASF Waterfront Parks, where visitors will be asked for voluntary $1 donations to help fund the display. For more information, call 734-324-4502 or email info@wyan.org.

Monday: Downtown Detroit
The Parade Company and Target host the 53rd Annual Target Fireworks at 10:06 p.m. in downtown Detroit along the riverfront. The show will include more than 10,000 pyrotechnics choreographed and will be televised on WDIV Channel 4. Go to www.theparade.org/riverdays.php for more info.

June 30-July 3: Salute to America fireworks at
Each day of the Dearborn museum’s annual tribute to classic American music will end with a Detroit Symphony Orchestra-accompanied fireworks finale. Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” and live cannon fire will only add to the colorful display above the lawn seats at Walnut Grove historic district. Advance tickets are available to youth members aged 5 to 12 for $12 and adults aged 13 and up for $19. Advance ticket prices for non-members are $14 and $22.50, respectively. July 4: Trenton Fourth of July Fireworks
The annual Independence Day display will begin at dusk after a live performance by the Downriver Community Band at 8 p.m. The best spot for viewing will be , where admission is free. Additional information can be found at www.trentonmi.org.

Aug. 6 and 7: Dearborn Homecoming Fireworks
