What are you most thankful for this year? Read on to find out what some of our readers had to say.

Happy Thanksgiving, Wyandotte.

Whether you are celebrating by tuning into the 85th America's Thanksgiving Parade, feasting on a turkey, settling in for the Lions game, doing all three for a Detroit-area tradition or coming up with your own game plan, I hope you enjoy your day.

Like many of you, I am thankful for having a family who loves me, for good health and opportunities to make each and every day count. I'm also thankful to be celebrating my first Thanksgiving with the Wyandotte Patch community.

So many things to be thankful for this day. First, I am Thankful that I live in America where freedom reigns. I am thankful for my church in Wyandotte where I am free to worship God as I choose. I am Thankful for family, even though it gets smaller as years go by. I am Thankful for my job, might not be the best but it has kept me going for 30 years. I am thankful for my body and mind - not the best but it is what it is. Thankful for friends I hold dear. Thankful for the City of Wyandotte and the Animal shelter where I can volunteer and care of the orphan animals there. Thankful for Wyandotte Patch as it brings the local news. Many things to be Thankful for couldn't stop at one but will stop babbling now. Will be watching to see what others are thankful for this day. I was given a challenge to write down every day 3 things I am thankful for and can't repeat one thing for 30 days. I like this challenge and will do it starting today. How about you?

I am thankful for my family, of course, and for good health, and for new directions in my life. And for Patch -- for helping me find those. :)

I am thankful for my husband and my family. We are all very close and are there for each other when we need it most, and I don't know what I would do without them.

I am thankful to have the love of a wonderful man, an amazing family & extraordinary pets!

So many things to be thankful for. My new baby girl and wife are very important, and can't be thankful enough.

I am thankful for the cultural heritage and traditions my Polish mother and Italian Father gifted to my brothers and I . This Thanksgiving the special recipes will be made with the LOVE of our mother ,father and grand parents that bind us together on a deeper level. I am thankful for my most loved daughter and granddaughter and our beautiful nieces and nephews that will carry on these traditions. I am thankful for friends that have become family, and for our Wyandotte community. Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for the extraordinary volunteers (past & present) of WAG Animal Rescue (formerly Wyandotte Animal Group) who have saved thousands of lives of homeless animals. And, who knows, we may have saved a turkey or two during our 23 years, as well. I appreciate you all.

I am thankful to be a member of a wonderful family and to have a great group of friends. I'm thankful for the birth of my niece Sarah, who came into the world just three weeks ago, and made me an uncle for the first time. Also, I'm thankful for the chance to be a part of Patch, which has allowed me to work with a lot of great people and has helped me discover a lot about myself.
