POLL: What Gets You Going on These Summerlike Days?

Temperatures likely to stay in mid-60s or higher this week. A Thursday high of 72 is forecast for Wyandotte.

Sure, you've opened windows and lowered the thermostat this lovely week before spring's official start. But have your flip-flops moved from storage to feet yet? Are shorts still hibernating?

The sunny caress of summer-like temperatures will linger at least a week, forecasts say. Daily highs of 66 to 72 degrees are projected through Monday.

"We could break the consecutive 60-degree days in March record, which was set back in 1945 in Detroit," National Weather Service meteorologists in White Lake say at their website. That 67-year-old record, incidentally, was nine straight days above 60.

Normal peaks for March 11-22 in Detroit are 44 to 48 degrees, the service notes.

That translates into May-like behavior before St. Patrick's Day. The city of Wyandotte posted a photo on its Facebook page of city workers removing the winter banner on the clock tower and replacing it with a spring banner. That post had 34 "likes" as of midnight Thursday.
