Here's a look at what's happening in and around Wyandotte today.

  1. Today is expected to be mostly sunny during the day and partly cloudy in the evening, with a high near 80 and a low near 58. There’s a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m. It'll be breezy, with a west wind between 15 and 20 mph, gusting to 32 mph.   2. The Michigan Department of Education is expected to release the 2011 Michigan Merit Exam results at 10 a.m. today. This is a state-mandated test that all 11th graders must take. Check back later for a story on how students fared on the test.
  3. Free lunch is being served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays through Aug. 5 at . The is sponsored by the USDA and is open to anyone 18 years or younger, or up to 26 years old with a disability. You do not have to be from Wyandotte to participate. Church officials said Monday night that only a half dozen or so people have been showing up. They asked for everyone to spread the word about the program to ensure that everyone eligible knows that a free hot meal is available.
  4. Elementary-aged children are invited to the from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays for an themed make-and-take craft event.
