Basketball Tourney To Raise Money For Local Charities

All funds raised will go toward AFSME Local 1055 Christmas Help for Needy Families and WPS Blessings in a Backpack charity.

Wyandotte Police Department is organizing a basketball tournament fund-raiser next month to help needy families this Christmas.

The two-game, five-on-five knockout tournament is set for 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15 at the Wyandotte Roosevelt High School gym.

Proceeds for the event will go to the City’s Local 1055 Christmas charity and Wyandotte Public School Blessings in a Backpack Program.

The contest has an entry fee of $200 per team, which includes jerseys.

Police teams must have at least four staff members to qualify, tourney organizer Officer Neil Hunter said.
