Wyandotte Stars to Face Wyandotte Firefighters in Charity Baseball Game

Money raised from the July 1 event will go to those who lost their jobs in the fire at Lions & Tigers & Beers Sports Club.

A friendly game of vintage baseball is hoping to hit a home run in the hearts of those affected by a devastating fire earlier this month.

While the game is free to watch, organizers said, there will be T-shirt sales and  50-50 drawings. Refreshments also will be sold on a pay-what-you-can scale.

Mayor Joseph Peterson will toss out the first pitch.

“This is what this city is all about,” Peterson said Monday night when the fundraiser was announced at the City Council meeting. "(It's) going to be fun. Don’t underestimate those firemen.”

Never, said the Stars' Zac "Professor" Holdren.

"We’re looking forward to having them out," he said.
