St. Pius Catholic School will host its second annual Hoops for a Cause on Saturday, Jan. 26, benefiting Henry Ford Hospital’s Josephine Ford Cancer Institute – Downriver. The event will feature a silent auction, bake sale and T-shirt sale.
Boys and girls ages 9 to 14 from St. Pius will play against children from Wyandotte’s St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $2 a person or $5 a family.
Hoops for a Cause began in 2012 when two St. Pius teachers were diagnosed with breast cancer. Organizers created the event to raise funds for the organizations of the teachers’ choice.
Last year, Hoops for a Cause raised $2,200 for the Josephine Ford Cancer Institute – Downriver. The first basketball game begins at 10:15 a.m. and the last basketball game ends at 6:45 p.m.
All games will take place at St. Pius Catholic School, 14141 Pearl St., Southgate.
