Sunday Open Houses to Showcase 7 Newly Built Wyandotte Homes

The houses were built due to a federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 grant the city received.

The city of Wyandotte has placed seven more Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSP2) homes on the real estate market. The newly constructed homes will be sold by lottery to qualifying low- and moderate-income households that meet the program requirements. The drawing will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 13 at . 

Leading up to the drawing date, the city will hold two open houses. These are scheduled for Sunday and Aug. 5. Both go from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

in NSP2 grant funds to completely refurbish or build new homes to be sold to low- and moderate-income households at a mortgage discount. Each homebuyer will receive a discount of at least 17.5% off the appraised value. To ensure affordability, further subsidies may be given. 

The homes are energy efficient, featuring geothermal heating and cooling systems, a Wyandotte-owned utility. Also featured are all new Energy Star appliances and advanced building and framing techniques, all to help monthly utility bills stay low.

The city has plans to build about 44 NSP2 homes, including about 25 new constructions and 19 rehabs.

To qualify for the program, applicants must be between 50% and 120% of the area median income (AMI) for Wayne County, have at least a 640 credit score and a debt-to-income ratio less than 40 percent. Applicants should also be mortgage ready.
