Fall Choices

  1. Well, this is the time of the year that saddens me because the flowers are still blooming beautifully and you know you have to cut the plants down soon. Hosta, and all perennials need to be cut totally down. When the leaves start falling I make sure I put leaves around all of my perennials. This keeps them protected from the cold days ahead. Rose bushes should be cut down twice a year , in the fall and again in the spring. When they start sprouting you will see dead stalks that did not make it through the winter and you need to remove them.  Last year I planted fall colored flowers in my planters in the front. When fall approached it was a perfect array of color. Wish I had repeated again this year.
