'Click It or Ticket' Campaign in Full Force

Wyandotte police announce what intersections they'll be targeting when for seat belt patrols.

Buckle up, Wyandotte. Seat belt safety zones are now in effect and are stepping up their patrols over the next two weeks.

With the launch of the national Click It or Ticket campaign on Monday, Wyandotte officers will be hitting the city streets extra hard in the afternoon, evening and overnight hours.

"The Click It or Ticket campaign is one of the reasons Michigan has always been a leader in reducing traffic fatalities through a high seat belt use rate," Michael L. Prince, Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning (OHSP) director, said on the OHSP website. "Since their introduction, seat belts have saved lives, and we want people to take advantage of this simple yet effective safety device."

Michigan law requires that all drivers and passengers age 15 and younger be buckled up, regardless of seating position. Children must be in a car seat or booster seat until they are 8 years old or 4 feet 9 inches tall.

The increased patrols go through June 3 statewide. The additional hours and manpower required during the Click It or Ticket campaign is supported with federal traffic safety funds, administered by OHSP.
