While the fire didn’t reach inside the building, there was a slight smoke smell that could be detected inside, said Raymond Heinbokel Jr., the shop’s vice president.

Fortunately, he said, the building is block under the vinyl siding, which kept the fire from spreading. If the building had a wood frame, he said, the damage could be considerably worse.

Ironically, Heinbokel said, the Dumpster that caught fire was full of carpet and wood–materials that someone other than his employees tossed into their trash container.

“It wasn’t even our stuff,” he said.
