Wyandotte Police Taser Man After High-Speed Chase

A Lincoln Park man is in police custody after he lead Wyandotte police on a high-speed chase ending in a crash with a Southgate police patrol car on Eureka near I-75 in Taylor at about 10 p.m. March 15.

Police said the 33-year-old man was driving erratically on Eureka near Prush's Bar, when an officer attempted to get him to pull over.

The man refused to stop his vehicle and accelerated at speeds up to 50 mph in zones marked as low as 25 mph.

The man ran several stop signs and traffic lights, and caused a crash at Dix-Toledo and Eureka while attempting to elude police, according to a Wyandotte police report.

The man's truck eventually came to a stop after colliding with a Southgate patrol car numerous times coming to rest in a Eureka median near I-75.

Police attempted to get the man to exit the vehicle and, after several attempts, pulled the man from the vehicle after breaking the passenger's side window to gain entry.

Police used a taser on the man after he did not respond to repeated commands to put his hands behind his back.

Police arrested the man and transported him to the Wyandotte Police Department.
