Puppy In a Bag: Search for Missing Children Reveals Gruesome Find

The search for two children whose murdered mother's body was dumped in an abandoned house entered its second full week Tuesday. Searchers in the area surrounding River Rouge Park made a disturbing find..

Searchers looking for clues about the disappearance of two Detroit children whose mother was found murdered last week haven’t tracked down the children, but they did make a troubling find in an abandoned house:

A dead puppy stuffed in a lunch bag, WJBK, Channel 2, reports. Another puppy was found nearby, still alive, and will be taken to a local shelter.

The dogs were found in a house near Joy Road and Trinity Street, just east of the Rouge River Park. The rotting smell of the dead dogs alerted the search party, which included friends and relatives of the missing children’s mother, Alicia Fox, 27, and law enforcement authorities.

As the search for 6-year-old Kaylah Hunter, and 8-month-old Kristian Justice entered its second full week Tuesday, Detroit police were using a Michigan State Police cadaver dog in their search of the woods in Rouge River Park, where articles of clothing and other items were found, WXYZ, Channel 7 reports.

The sweep of the park and surrounding area didn’t give friends and relatives of Alicia Fox, whose badly decomposing bod was discovered June 9 in an abandoned house in the same area, any more answers about the kids’ whereabouts.

Fox had been shot multiple times, twice in the head.

Within two days of the discovery of Fox’s body, Erin Justice, Kristian’s biological father and Fox’s husband, was taken into custody in Georgia, but is fighting his extradition on first-degree murder charges. Police think he has information about the whereabouts of the children and was the last to see them.

Another man, Timothy Jones, 27, of Detroit, has also been arrested and was charged as an accessory the fact, a felony, in connection with Fox’s murder.
