Over the weekend, several incidents of vehicle break-ins in the area of 17th and 21st Street were reported in Wyandotte, police said.
The first incident occurred in the 1400 block of 17th Street. The victim told police that his daughter found the driver’s side window broken out around 8:30 a.m., Jan. 11. The owner said the Ford Escape was parked in front of their home at about 7:45 p.m. on Jan. 10, the report said.
The owner estimates about $300-worth of damages to the vehicle, but said nothing of value was taken, the report said.
The second incident occurred in the 1100 block of 21st Street. The victim reported that the rear window of his company’s 2011 Ford van was smashed out sometime overnight Friday, Jan. 10. The man told police he did not believe anything was stolen from the vehicle.
The third incident occurred in the 1600 block of 19th Street, where a man reported someone broke into his Chevy truck overnight and stole his workbag, the report said.
The victim said the bag contained a PSP, portable video game system, valued at $200.
The suspect(s) gained entry by breaking out his driver’s side window, the report said.
Wyandotte Police Sgt. Dan Kotkowski reminds residents to “always keep your doors locked, windows rolled up and valuables out of your car.”
Police are still investigating the break-ins.
